Celebrate Chanukah And More In Philadelphia With Menorah Lightings And Live Entertainment

Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, began at sundown on Sunday, December 6. Restaurants, museums and parks all over Philadelphia will be celebrating this eight-day holiday in a variety of fun ways.

Moo Shu Jew Show

While celebrants across the country gather on December 24 to deck the halls, going out to the movies and a Chinese meal has become a veritable Christmas tradition for Jewish revelers. Building off of that idea, comedian Cory Kahaney created The Moo Shu Jew Show. For eight years now, this holiday event has given audiences a live alternative to Hollywood blockbusters and long waits for dim sum. Tickets cost $75 in advance and $85 at the door.

Rittenhouse Square Menorah Lighting

As dusk settles over Rittenhouse Square, prayers will be sung and the candles will be lit on one of the city’s largest menorahs.

Cocktails & Candle Lighting at NMAJH

Join the Young Friends of the National Museum of American Jewish History for a festive affair to celebrate Chanukah with complimentary drinks, behind-the-scenes gallery tours and, of course, a lighting of the menorah.

Philadelphia Museum of Art Chanukah Party

The museum’s weekly Art After 5 soiree celebrates Chanukah with Yiddish and klezmer music from the Shining Stars Orchestra. The event is co-presented in partnership with Temple University’s Feinstein Center for American Jewish History.

Chanukah Doughnuts at Federal Donuts

Federal Donuts brings back its holiday-specific donuts this year with honey-dipped mini donuts with raspberry jam. The little treats are available via pre-order only (20 minis for $15), with pickup at the 1632 Sansom Street or 701 N. Seventh Street stores.
